To investigate the changes of serum enzyme activity in different leukemia types and different disease stages, and the relationship between enzyme activity and the total number of white blood cells and leukemia cells in peripheral blood. METHODS: Serum lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), alanine aminotransferase (GPT) and alkaline phosphatase (AKP) activity in 75 patients with leukemia were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) and compared with 38 normal controls. Results: The activity of LDH and AKP in the leukemia group was significantly higher than that in the normal group. The LDH activity in acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) was positively correlated with the number of leukemia cells in the peripheral blood (P<0.01); the complete remission period (CR) of leukemia The LDH activity in patients was significantly lower than that in newly diagnosed patients (P<0.01). There was no significant difference in serum GPT activity between healthy subjects and normal controls (P>0.05). Conclusion: The dynamic observation of serum LDH activity is helpful for judging the efficacy of leukemia.
