一般而言,现代英语中形容词的其中一个主要语法功能是前置限定名词,然而同时存在大量名词作前置定语限定修饰另一名词,且与形容词的这一用法在语法功能及语义功能方面存在差异。本文通过分析名词定语的成因,对比名词与其同根形容词作定语的语义差别,指出名词定语的使用需要多观察、多对比、多总结,从而帮助语言使用者规范其表述,掌握名词定语的特点与规律。
In general, one of the major grammatical functions of adjectives in modern English is the pre-defined noun, while the simultaneous presence of a large number of nouns as prepositions restricts the modification of another noun, and this usage of adjectives exists in terms of grammatical function and semantic function difference. By analyzing the causes of nominal attributives and comparing the semantic differences between attributive nouns and attributive adverbs, this paper points out that the use of nouns attributives requires more observations, more contrasts and more concluding remarks, so as to help language users to regulate their expressions and grasp the characteristics and laws of nouns. .
