壁画《长城万里图》的创作始于1981年,完成于1983年,属于当时中央工艺美院承接的建设方委托项目。就作品本身而言,是张仃公共艺术创作中存世时间最长、功能实现最充分、工艺最为独特的,是先生晚年艺术变革与工艺创新成功结合的一次大胆实践。当年参与作品研制的团队成员,今天都以各自的方式在延续着彩锦绣的探索进程,这条路都连接着那次集结于“长城”的起点,连接着张仃先生所鼓励和提升的艺术变革精神。
The creation of the mural “Great Wall Wanli Map” started in 1981 and was completed in 1983, belonging to the commissioned project of the construction side undertaken by the Central Academy of Fine Arts of the time.
