JM Coetzee’s novel The Childhood of Jesus is a peculiar allegory of text - a completely clues-driven single-clues story (as if there is not much “technical content” at the narrative level), rather vivid and realistic demeanor Simple and plain text. There is no sudden, violent emotion pouring in the book. There is no large-scale metaphysical imagination and psychological depiction. There is no visible metaphor. This anomalous “simple narrative” is quite puzzling. In the preface to the essay “New Immigrant Tale” by Xu Zhiqiang (also see Book City, April 2013), there is an excellent reading of the article. It focuses on the literary connotation of “new immigrants” from the perspective of globalization and seeks to find the self-enlightenment of modern people in “rootless conditions”, including “overcoming the obstacles of historical memory and seeking refugees as immigrants - Citizens’ rights ”
