What is fins? In fins, the longitudinal metal sheet and dielectric are suspended in the E-plane within the rectangular waveguide of the housing, allowing capacitive loading of the quasi-TE_ (10) mode. This load capacitance widens the single-mode bandwidth, which is similar to ridge waveguides. Fin lines have a quasi-TE10 (10) mode cut-off frequency. To prevent radiation not requiring a high-K substrate, the choice of a low-K substrate in the millimeter band is good because extreme miniaturization leads to tolerance issues.
