在本文中,笔者会详细地分析小说《维莱特》中随处可见的间接含蓄的作用。首先露西的沉默寡言是她保护自我的一种方法,这种方法可以在她叙述自己故事的过程中,将自己的悲惨经历掩盖起来:对于露西来说这些遭遇太过悲痛,她不愿提及。其次露西的沉默寡言并不是她无能的表现,相反沉默寡言给予她一种新的能力:一方面沉默寡言使露西具有发现和看到别人所看不到的事物的能力。另一方面沉默寡言给予露西一种保护,使她不受别人的注意,进而不被别人误解。最后,如果露西一直沉默寡言,那么我们就没有机会读到她著名的“异教徒的故事”。幸运的是,她最终打破了她的沉默寡言进而探索了一种适合她的表达方式,她求助于写作:在写作中露西通过她“异教徒的故事”含蓄地表达了自己的真实感情。以这样一种方式她让外貌平凡的自己绽放出了光彩,但是仅为那些能够理解她真实价值的人。对于那些不了解她的人,她只是一个一无是处的人。
In this article, I will analyze in detail the indirect implicit role in Villette. In such a way she makes her appearance trivial bloom itself, but only those who can understand her true value. For those who do not know her, she is just a helpless person.
