在20世纪上半期,抽象主义与超现实主义是当时艺术的主流。绘画形式,构图以及表现手法虽然有了很大的突破,但绘画创作的媒介却还是以布面油画为主。塔比埃斯则雄心勃勃,试图去突破先前的所有绘画风格,开创一种全新的绘画形式,于是新的绘画媒介出现了,综合材料绘画横空出世。随着时代的发展与艺术的新旧更替,材料艺术语言领域无限的扩大,艺术媒材再也不仅仅是指传统的布面油画,笔墨纸砚,而是生活中所能看的见摸得着的一切事物,都可以将他们作为艺术媒材。塔皮埃斯能够发现不同材质之间的情感关联,再加上他自己所创造的独有的绘画表现形式,使他作品看起来是独特的,自由的,新颖的。我很赞成用新颖的方式去诠释我们想表达的东西,这不仅是一种革命,这更是一种艺术的精神,因为艺术需要创新,因为创新才会发展,才会进步。
