天然林保护在湖北有悠久的历史,现已发现的明清时代的护林古石碑有十余通,内容十分丰富,按类型分为官方型护林石碑和民间型护林石碑两类.为我们探讨湖北古代森林文献信息资源状况,护林思想及护林措施等提供了珍贵的实物史料.
