Objective To detect the expression of apoptosis-suppressing gene Livin in bladder transitional cell carcinoma (TCC) to explore its role in the occurrence and development of bladder cancer. Methods Reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) was used to detect the expression of Livin gene in 60 cases of bladder transitional cell carcinoma. Results The positive expression rate of Livin in 60 cases of bladder cancer was 28.3%, but none in 10 cases of non-tumor bladder tissue. The expression of Livin was not related to the pathological grade and clinical stage of bladder cancer (all P> 0.05); 21 cases The positive expression rate of Livin in recurrent bladder cancer was 38.1% (8/21), which was higher than that of primary bladder cancer (23.1%, 9/39). Conclusion Livin is of certain significance in the development of bladder cancer. High expression of Livin suggests that patients may have a tendency of early recurrence.
