Kopsia officinalis Tsiang et P.T.Li is a folk medicine used in Xishuangbanna District,Province Yunnan for the treatment of leprosy,pharyngitis and edema.The total alkaloidextracted from the root and stem showed analgesic activity.Ten indole alkaloids have beenisolated by the authors from this species.Four of them are known as kopsinine(1),kopsa-mine(2),eburnamine(3),and perivine(4);the other three are new ones,being established as20-oxo-eburnamenine(5),20-hydroxy-eburnamine(6),and 20-oxo-eburnamine(7).The
