The interaction between surfactants and fluorocarbon-modified polyacrylamide (FC-PAM) in aqueous solutions was evaluated by theological means and fluorescence spectroscopy and was found to be strong regardless of the surfactants nature. Two representative surfactants, anionic sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) and nonionic Triton X-100, were used. The origin of the interaction and its dependence on the surfactant concentration were discussed.
