从谋求中国现代化的整个历史进程中去考察辛亥革命 ,我们会发现 ,辛亥革命在中国近代史上远不止表层意义上的结束帝制、建立共和之功 ,其对民族意识大觉醒的推进 ,无论是从深度上还是在广度上都达到了一个全新的阶段。辛亥革命的直接成果——共和国虽然夭折了 ,但其上承 1 840年以来的“求富”、“求强”,下启独立民主的民族民主事业 ,实现了中华民族意识的真正觉醒 ,是本世纪具有划时代意义的一次实质性的社会变动
