Ethel Wilson (1888-1 980) is one of the most famous novelists of Canadian literature in the 20th century. Her famed novel “Marsh Angels” is one of the most taught works in literary courses at Canadian universities. As early as 1954, the novel was published simultaneously in London (Macmillan Publishers), New York (Harper Brothers) and Toronto (Macmillan Publishers Canada) where the modern women’s The feminist topic of natural attributes, swept the field of European and American literature after the 1960s. Recalling the portrayal of different female figures by this work, we can not only appreciate the author’s advanced thinking at that time, but also feel the proposition of Wilson’s natural attributes of philosophy with her philosophy proposed by her novels. This proposition remains instructive for current women’s studies.
