清朝末年,汉阳(今武汉蔡甸)人朱荣臣少时随父到汉口谋生,在大观楼(清茶馆)跑堂。光绪年间与两兄合资,先后在花楼街福缘里开办维新酒楼,在汉口黄陂街开办金谷酒楼。1908年独资在万年街开设华兴、振兴两处酒楼,年年盈余,不几年,便在得胜街兴建品珍楼。1928年改品珍楼为“普宴春”。1931年水灾后,乘三民路口福裕布店倒闭之机,以2300块银元作抵押,将其租赁装修,并于1929年正式开业。朱荣臣开过多家酒
