During the 21st Ningbo International Fashion Fair, the George Brummell Bespoke Tailors displayed its masterful techniques and elegant dressing style.
Mr. Wang Biao who introduced the George Brummell British brand into China, stated that George Brummell was once a consultant of the Royals, also a founder of a new era of men’s fashion - the suit and tie.
The brand has witnessed great changes all through these two centuries. Whatever happens they always adhere to their motto: “Decency with convenience, delicacy without losing simplicity”. The Prince of Wales, members in the House of Lords, and officer cadets at the Royal Military College, Sandhurst, all frequent this private bespoke tailoring service. Besides members of the British royalty, there are also many other supreme clients from other countries.
“Each George Brummell’s bespoke garment is created by hand from the senior bespoke tailoring craftsmen who ensure each part of the garment fits the customer’s figuration. Following the principle of ‘What to wear at the different social interaction occasions’, it is essential to select a garment material for the weight, color and design which George Brummell feels will suit the client’s build, lifestyle and skin tone, even a small button and each stich are particularly important.”
In recent years, George Brummell Bespoke Tailoring has been invited to many provinces and cities of China such as Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Guangdong, Zhejiang and Jiangsu, providing Chinese clients with the British styled bespoke tailoring service. “Considering different bosy shape, figure, taste of the individual, George Brummell and his master tailors provide the most exquisite bespoke garments for each of their customers. The precise measurement of 20 body parts makes it possible for the customers to enjoy the most precise dressing experience. 90 days of cutting, fitting and sewing ensures that even the strictest requirement can be completely satisfied. 60 hours of handmaking reflect the passion, infinite care and craftsmanship. ”
“While knowing more about the brand, I was really touched by it, especially when I saw that the 93-year-old tailor still insists on handmaking clothes stitch by stitch.” Mr. Wang Biao introduced that currently the British team has a main studio including five people, plus other 18 people, who make about 500 sets of garments each year. Now, the brand is seeing a training project for a new younger generation, because the masters realized the discontinuity in the young generation. The training program may be introduced to China because of the current serious problems in China’s bespoke tailor market which, though very huge with more than 40,000, does not meet the bespoke standards in many processes. Now there is a misunderstanding in the so-called bespoke tailors, many of which are done by machines, and only the measurement section is done by hand. So the brand also intends to bring this training project to China to train the young people here.
After participating in the 21st Ningbo International Fashion Fair, Mr. Wang Biao, together with the master team, visited their clients all around China, including such cities as Qinghe and Shijiazhuang in Hebei, Yulin in Shannxi, Beijing, Dalian in Liaoning, and Hangzhou in Zhejiang. In Beijing, George Brummell, as a sponsor to the movie Journey To The West, became a stationed brand in Prince Gong Mansion.
