September 1, 1939, World War II broke out. Many scientists have previously known that Germany is developing atomic bombs. They were worried, finding Einstein with a bigger reputation than them, hoping he would take the lead by signing a letter addressed to President Roosevelt, proposing that a nuclear bomb should be made before Germany. Einstein did not hesitate to sign his name, but also personally wrote a long letter to the president.
