她是陕北农民的女儿,1934年正式参加红军,1938年加入中国共产党;作为刘志丹的妻子和助手,为创建陕甘革命根据地作出了重要贡献。她曾经亲手为毛泽东等中央领导人做棉鞋;亲自为毛泽东、贺子珍夫妇的女儿姣姣(李敏)接生。毛泽东、周恩来尽管年龄都大于刘志丹、同桂荣夫妇,但都称呼她为“刘嫂子”。她1999年5月4日在西安市因病逝世之后(享年93岁),江泽民、李鹏、朱镕基、李瑞环、胡锦涛等领导同志都送了花圈。
She is the daughter of a peasant in northern Shaanxi. She officially joined the Red Army in 1934 and joined the Communist Party of China in 1938; as Liu Zhi Dan’s wife and assistant, she made an important contribution to the establishment of the revolutionary base in Shaanxi and Gansu. She once personally made cotton shoes for Mao Zedong and other central leaders; personally delivered the gift for Jiao Jiao, daughter of Mao Zedong and He Zizhen couple. Mao Zedong, Zhou Enlai, although older than Liu Zhidan, Gui Rong couple, but all called her “Liu wife”. After her death in Xi’an on May 4, 1999 (at the age of 93), leaders of Jiang Zemin, Li Peng, Zhu Rongji, Li Ruihuan and Hu Jintao sent wreaths.
