In January 2015, the U.S. Defense Department announced the funding of a key capability verification program for the 6th generation fighter aircraft jointly conducted by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), the U.S. Air Force and the U.S. Navy. This innovative program aims to develop shared avionics, multiple subsystems, engine technologies and other components for the 6th generation fighters of the USAF and Navy.
