目前,许多专家对大学英语教学的目的和功能定位提出了新的观点和看法,出现了“工具论”、“通识教育论”和“ESP论”之争。大学英语教教育的功能定位应随着我国的改革开放和社会发展而不断变化,在不同的历史发展阶段应体现出不同的功能特征。大学英语教学必须适应地域差异、高校层次差异和学生水平差异,并随着社会需求的发展而不断调整其功能定位。
At present, many experts put forward new views and opinions on the purpose and function orientation of college English teaching, and the disputes of “tool theory”, “general education theory” and “ESP theory” appear. The functional orientation of college English education should be constantly changing with the reform and opening up and social development in our country. Different functional characteristics should be embodied in different stages of historical development. College English teaching must adapt to regional differences, differences in university level and student level, and constantly adjust its functional orientation with the development of social needs.
