新闻价值是新闻理论研究中一个重点关注的问题。当新闻事业发展到今天,大众传媒要面对分属不同阶层、不同社会地位、不同职业、不同年龄、不同爱好的社会大众,究竟什么样的新闻才能为更广大的群众所关心接受和喜闻乐见?如何选择最具共同兴趣的新闻并把它呈现给大众?这一直为人们所关注。现代人生活在一个急剧变化的世界中,持续、及时和有价值的信息是人们不可缺少的一部分。人们都无一例外地从报纸、杂志、广播、电视、书籍以及电影里获得对世界的印象,在信息的漩涡中选择,决断,竞争,生存。面对潮水般铺天盖地而来的新闻信息,面对公众如饥渴的期盼目光,面对大众传媒有限的篇幅空间,如何鉴别,如何取舍,大浪淘沙般把最有光彩、最具价值的新闻奉献给大众,这无疑是一名记者迫切需要解决的问题。
