自2003年AMD公司推出同时兼容32位应用与64位应用的X86架构64位(X86-64)服务器端处理器之后,Intel公司和AMD公司相继推出了针对台式机与笔记本电脑的X86-64处理器,6月23日,微软正式在中国推出了64位windowsServer2003。64位应用似乎已经从传统意义上的高端应用,即将发展成为普及性应用。用户出于对未来64位应用发展前景的期望和保护投资的目的选择了X86-64处理器。X86-64的需求迫切程度究竟如何?X86-64会在哪个领域开始大规模应用?X86-64应用对传统的UNIX应用是否会产生威胁?X86-32上的应用需要是否需要移植到64位?X86-32应用发展到64位的过程中是否会有阻碍?X86-32到X86-64的过渡期有多长?带着这些问题,我们请到了AMD(中国)有限公司高级产品经理唐志德、Sun公司大中华区批量产品经理李志文和北京中科红旗软件技术有限公司高级产品经理耿增强,一起进行了探讨。
