柏林给人的印象总是与战争、分裂、废墟这些充满苦难气息的字眼相连,欧洲的几个大都市,恐怕还没有哪个像柏林这样命途多舛。两次世界大战都给柏林带来毁灭性的打击,那道举世闻名的柏林墙在很长一段时间内几乎成为柏林最著名的地标。沿袭至今,“柏林墙”几乎成了一个成语,用于形容那些人类社会中无处不在的隔膜和障碍——既包括地理上的,也包括心灵中的。如果你在柏林走一走,恐怕时时刻刻能觉察到一堵无形之墙的存在。
Berlin gives the impression that it is always connected with the words of suffering, division and ruin. Some of Europe's metropolises are probably not as prosperous as Berlin. Both World Wars brought a devastating blow to Berlin, the world-famous Berlin Wall that for almost a very long time became Berlin's most famous landmark. So far, the “Berlin Wall” has almost become an idiom to describe the ubiquitous diaphragms and obstacles in human society - both geographically and psychologically. If you walk around in Berlin, I am afraid I am constantly aware of the existence of an invisible wall.
