北京孔庙进士题名碑作为研究古代科举制度的文献资料,具有重要的意义。现存的进士题名碑共有198通,其中元代3通,明代77通,清代118通。197通矗立在孔庙前院碑林,而明景泰五年(1454年)的进士题名碑没有放置在碑林。这197通石碑中最早的元代石碑已经有700年的历史~①,最晚的也有100多年。随着岁月流逝,长时间的风化作用,这些不可移动的露天文物肯定会受到影响。而现代工业的发展,大气中污染物增多,北京一直以来酸雨频繁,对它们损害更大。为了更好地保护这些珍贵文
