Foreign Retailers Almost Slowed Store Expansion in China: Wal-Mart, the world’s largest retail giant, came out with plans to slow the pace of opening new stores in China and Brazil while acknowledging Wal-Mart’s previous expansion plan “too eager” Carrefour, the world’s second-largest retailer, also had some stores closed or shut down. Carrefour’s strategy to withdraw from the Singapore market in the first half of the year was contracted. It was repeatedly rumored to be acquired. Carrefour sold its Colombian business to Chile at the end of October for 2.6 billion U.S. dollars. The retail chain group is world-famous with the aim of withdrawing from the marginal market to ensure its key markets. The global retail industry ranks third
