In recent years, the passenger transport volume and maintenance business of the regional air transport industry has maintained a reliable growth. Despite the 2001 economic downturn and the September 11 terrorist attacks, the regional air transport industry continued to grow, but the mode of development will change. From 1993 to 2000, regional airlines grew rapidly and remained profitable, with operating profits above 10%. Turinda Larson, vice president of BACK, believes that regional airlines operate better than large backbone airlines, benefiting from the transfer business from their backbone airline partners and signing a fixed fee instead of pressing Revenue share payment contract. In January of this year, the six major American airline companies transferred 117 trunk routes to regional airline operations. The backbone airlines will continue to pay a fixed fee to their branch members because the regional jets are still in short supply. By March of this year, more than 900 regional jet orders had not been delivered.
