Although the social and folk customs are an important part of folklore, in the past I did not pay special attention to my teaching and research. By chance, I started to have a better understanding of the social and folk customs. In 1995, Zhang Shih-yen, a school pupil who taught at the Shandong Institute of the Arts, introduced me to a film and television martial arts class run by his school and hoped that I could give students some knowledge about the etiquette of rivers and lakes. Due to Shi-flash situation, I took the task of lecturing. Although the lecture time was not long and was less than 20 hours, it was an excellent opportunity for me to understand in depth the social customs of rivers and lakes. While I was preparing lessons, I was discussing with the students while lecturing. In the meantime, She Sima School Brightens me very much. Every time I give a lecture, I sit down with the students and make me afraid to have a slack in my lectures. It was through this lecture that prompted me to conduct a systematic review of the social and folk customs of rivers and lakes. This booklet, which is now before the readers, is exactly the prototype that came into being during that lecture.
