The Nurec Hydropower Station is located on the Wachs River in the Blissanton Gorge, which is the fourth level of the Vashek Hydro Station. The main tasks of the hub are power generation and irrigation. The runoff from the Vakhsh River is supplied by ice and snow. Basin area of 30,700 square kilometers, annual average runoff 20.5 billion cubic meters. The maximum daily average flow is 120 to 3,900 seconds. Each year through the dam area suspended sediment volume of 100 million tons or more. The pivotal buildings are arranged on the Cretaceous sandstone and siltstone rock layers. The rock strata tend to be upstream with a dip angle of 30 to 50 degrees. The riverbed bed cover thickness is 13-20 meters, and the dam area is a 9-level seismic area. The hub consists of earth-rockfill dam, left-bank spillway and diversion tunnel, right-bank power station building (water inlet, pressure diversion tunnel
