“Harlem Renaissance Movement ” is a symbol of the rise of black literature and art in the United States. At the beginning of the 20th century, black writers no longer succumb to the social position set by white society and began appealing and protesting. They consciously draw nutrition from black life, tradition and folk culture to create the image of “new black man.” Langston Hughes is a pivotal writer in the history of Afro-American literature and one of the souls of Harlem Renaissance. Hughes’ s poems introduce black dialects and music, opening the “precedent of American black poems”. Hughes used the special model of blues music to express the blacks’ pursuit and longing for the national culture. Bruce’s poetry, which he wrote, is deeply influenced by the form and theme of Bruce’s lyrics in terms of form and theme.
