Ricerche di superficie hanno portato all’individuazione di 5 siti preistorici riferibili alMesolitco. Tre stazioni (Fornaci De Mezzo; Corno-Ripudio; Cassacco) si collocano nella fascia collinarea nord di Udine nell’anfiteatro morenico del Tagliamento, ai margini di antichi bacini inframoreniciora prosciugati. Fornaci De Mezzo ha restituito un’industria di tipo Sauveterriano, forse riferibile allafase antica (prima metà del decimo millennio BP). Corno-Ripudio presenta invece caratteri che potrebbe-ro indicate una fase antica del Castelnoviano, qui attestato da due armature trapezoidali. A Cassaccosono invece numerosi i Trapezi e le tipiche lame denticolate castelnoviane. Due i siti rinvenuti nell’areadella bassa pianura friulana: Porpetto e Bertiolo. II primo ha restituito pochi elementi del MesoliticoRecente, mentre il secondo parrebbe attribuibile, con riserve, al Mesolitico Antico o alia fase finale dell’E-pigravettiano ltalico. Discovery of Mesolithic sites in the Province of Udine (Northern Italy). ArchaeologicalSurveys carried out in the Province of Udine led to the discovery of five Mesolithic sites. Three ofthese stations (Fornaci De Mezzo, Corno-Ripudio and Cassacco) lie along the shores of small basinsof the morainic arc of the river Tagliamento. Fornaci De Mezzo produced a Sauveterrian industry proba-bly to be attributed to the first half of the tenth millennium BP. Corno-Ripudio, which yielded twotrapezoidal points, might belong to the Early Castelnovian. Cassacco gave many trapezes and notchedbladelets of Castelnovian type. Two sites were also discovered in the Friuli plain, namely Porpetto andBertiolo. The first gave a few Late Mesolithic artefacts, while the second is to be attributed to the EarlyMesolithic or to the Final Epigravettian.
