Objective To analyze and study the psychology and physical health of unrelated hematopoietic stem cell donors. Methods Fifty-three unrelated hematopoietic stem cell donors from the China Marrow Bank in Guangzhou General Hospital of Guangzhou Military Region were divided into two groups by donation, self-made questionnaire, self-rating Baker Depression Scale (BDI) and Self-rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) Six months after the donation was completed, the psychological and physical health survey was conducted. Results The majority of donors were males and their undergraduate qualifications. All donors voluntarily donated hematopoietic stem cells. During the collection process, low-calcium reactions were common and no serious adverse reactions were found. No anxiety and depression were found during and after the collection. (P <0.05). However, the scores of anxiety declined after the completion of the collection, which was not statistically significant compared with the norm in China (P> 0.05). No complications were found after mobilization in the first half of the donation. Conclusion The donors with higher education have a good understanding of the donation of peripheral blood stem cells. All donor mobilization and collection of stem cells are safe. The incidence of serious adverse events is extremely low. Stem cell donation has no obvious effect on donor psychology.
