Objective To investigate the correlation between lower extremity vascular lesions (PAD) and hypersensitive C-reactive protein (hsCRP) in type 2 diabetic patients. Methods 40 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus were enrolled in accordance with relevant standards. According to the value of ankle-brachial ratio (ABI), twenty-one patients with vascular lesion (PAD group, 20 patients) and non-lower extremity vascular disease group (N-PAD group, 20 patients) were selected as control group. The differences of hsCRP, body mass index (BMI), blood pressure, blood glucose, glycosylated hemoglobin and blood lipid levels among the three groups were compared. Results Compared with the control group, serum hsCRP levels in PAD group and N-PAD group were significantly increased. Compared with N-PAD group, hsCRP in PAD group was significantly increased, the differences were statistically significant. Conclusion Serum high-sensitivity C-reactive protein level may be an important risk factor for the pathogenesis of type 2 diabetes mellitus (PAD), which is closely related to the severity of PAD.
