A diner（食客）took a look at his food and asked the waiter：“I make a bet（打赌）that you must have changed your cook.”Hearing this， the waiter asked in surprise， “How do you know that， sir?”
“There were usually some black hairs in my food before， but this time some white hairs are in my food.”Answered the diner.
A man was sitting by the river. He put his feet into the water and then drew them back. He did this again and again.
Another man who happened to pass by noticed this. He wondered about this greatly. So he came up to ask the first man：“What on earth are you doing here?”
“I want to end my life in the river， but the water is so cold. I am afraid I?蒺ll catch a cold if I jump into it.”He answered.
There was once a lazybone（懒汉）. He was not willing to do anything and nobody wanted to hire（雇用）him. One day he asked a man to introduce him to get the easiest job. The man thought for a while and then said， “You go to take care of the graveyard（坟地）. There is no job easier than this.”The lazybone went to work there. But a few days later he came back again， saying angrily， “I won?蒺t do that. It?蒺s unfair to do this job. Those people are all lying. I?蒺m the only one who stands.”
Once a mother was going out for a party. Before leaving she said to her son Wood， “While I am away， stay near the door and watch it all the time!”She said this because there were a lot of thieves（小偷）in their town.
Wood sat near the door. After an hour， one of his uncles came and said to him， “We have something to talk about with your mother. We are going to visit your house this evening. Go and tell her.”
His uncle then went away， but Wood did not know what to do. He thought and thought and at last had an idea. He pulled down（卸下）the door， put it on his back an went with it to his mother.
Some old friends were talking about the young people in their town. They all agreed that old people were cleverer than the young. Then one of them said，“But young men are stronger than the old.”
All of them agreed that this was true except Fox. He said，“I don?蒺t think so. I?蒺m now as strong as I was in my young days.”
“What do you mean?”asked his friends. “How can that be true?”
“Well，”said Fox，“in one corner of my field there is a big stone. When I was a young man I tried to move it，but I couldn?蒺t. I was very strong at that time. Now I am an old man，and I still can?蒺t move it just like in my young days.”
