The Samoa Islands, located in the South Pacific, are divided into two parts. In the east, the seven islands dominated by Tutula are occupied by the United States and called East Samoa. The west consists of two major islands, the Sawai and Uppulo, and the surrounding seven islands with a total area of 1,095 square miles. In 1962 Independence on January 1, 2009, said Western Samoa, officially renamed the independent nation of Samoa in 1997. Samoa is one of the world’s least developed countries with a lack of resources and property and the need to import large quantities of goods from abroad. However, the charming scenery of Samoa has attracted tourists from all over the world and brought considerable tourism revenue to the country. In addition, thousands of people migrate each year to New Zealand and Australia, not only to support themselves, but also to remit most of their income to their hometowns. Therefore, tourism and remittances are the main economic pillars of the country.
