我赞赏那种非功利的纯粹的艺术追求。它会使我感到艺术的美好和纯洁。我对女画家的作品,之所以感兴趣,原因正是如此。并不是说,她们是不食人间烟火的世外高人,我的意思是指她们身上还保持着一种难的纯朴,或者说可能是与生俱来的不喜欢与人争名夺利的善良天性。吴湘云的作品处处流露这样的显著优点。确是非常难得。我永远不喜欢利欲熏心的人,迫不及待利用艺术欺世盗名,开辟生财之道。我坚持认为,艺术是我们精神领域中一块洁净之地。
