Professor Richard F. Wansel, who was educated in business administration at Harvard Business School, learned from Reginald H. Johns, president of General Electric Corporation from l979 to 1981, how he selected John F. When Little Welch was his successor, Wanshal’s education aid became very interested in how the company’s internal powers were transferred. He decided to write a book to urge the 28 presidents to describe the power in their respective companies. How to transfer the handover, and analyzed the history of 227 large companies from 1960 to 1984, and examined how senior management and the board of directors worked together to select successors.
