《阿Q正传》是鲁迅和中国文学的代表作之一。在众多外文译本中,威廉·莱尔的英译本得到的评价较高。翻译目的论自诞生以来,对翻译实践产生了重要影响。基于此,从翻译目的论角度赏析《阿Q正传》第二章的英译本,分析译者是如何遵守翻译目的论而创作出成功的译本,以期为其他译者指明方向。
“True Story of Ah Q” is one of the representative works of Lu Xun and Chinese literature. In many foreign translations, William Lyell’s English translation received a high rating. Since its creation, translating teleology has had an important influence on translation practice. Based on this, I appraise the English version of chapter two of The True Story of Ah Q from the perspective of translation, analyze how the translator abides by the theory of translation and create a successful translation, in order to point out the direction for other translators.
