梁启超的传记创作实践与他的传记创作理论存在着一定的差距,甚至是背离。梁启超理论上虽强调传记写作的忠实客观,实际上却将传主塑造成平面化的英雄;理论上虽排斥将史作为宣传工具,实际上却将传记书写作为抒发自己政见的工具,因而大部分传记作品充满着强烈的政治色彩。这种背离现象的出现,主要缘于梁启超“史学范畴”的传记观,且与他的“新史学”思想息息相关。
