Two new technologies for the production of powder metallurgy materials have been approved by the New York-based Institute of Materials, Maine, Maine. These two new technologies are Pressurized Accelerated Sintering and Hot Pulse HIP. Pressure assisted sintering is a low-pressure powder metallurgy densification technique that can be molded or injection molded. The Gorham New Materials Society claims that the advantages of pressurized accelerated sintering at the cost of equipment, the economics of processing, and energy requirements far outweigh the traditional sintering and hot isostatic pressing technologies. Pressurized accelerated sintering technology provides a good method of obtaining fully dense powder metallurgy material with an order of magnitude lower pressure than conventional hot isostatic pressing techniques. The temperature at which the pressure is applied is generally the same as the sintering temperature. This method in the use of 70 ~ 105kg / cm ~ 2 pressure, the density can be greater than the theoretical density of 99%.
