On December 18, 1997, the first advanced tunnel full-face boring machine used by our country’s railway system was put on trial at the entrance of a Qinling tunnel at the Ministry of Railways Tunnel Engineering Bureau, marking the official tunneling of the first long railway tunnel in China Start. The Qinling Super Long Tunnel is located between the Qingcha and Yingpan stations in Xi’an - Ankang and is designed as two basically parallel single-track tunnels with a line spacing of 30m. One of the full-length 18.460km, the maximum depth of about 1600m. The design grade is 11 ‰ uphill from the imported approximately 14.7km and then downhill with 3 ‰. The Qinling Tunnel is located in the Zhongshan District of the North Qinling Mountains and is expected to suffer from various adverse geological disasters such as rock burst, geothermal heat, gushing water, radioactivity and instability of surrounding rock due to various tectonics.
