年来谈知识分子问题之风大盛。经常入耳者,似乎仍不外是“社会责任感”云云。不消说,这也正是五四的精神、五四的传统、或说五四知识分子的心态:忧国忧民,时时以天下为己任。论者们之所论,多少给人以这样的感觉:似乎中国以后发生的事,实与知识分子们的社会责任感不强有关,因此今日中国知识分子最要紧的仍是要加强社会责任感。然而我却真正怀疑,近百年来中国知识分子的社会责任
In the years to talk about the issue of intellectuals wind Sheng. Often heard of, it seems that nothing more than “social responsibility” and so on. Needless to say, this is exactly the spirit of the May Fourth Movement, the May 4th tradition, or the mentality of the May Fourth intellectuals: worrying about the people and cherishing the people and always taking the world as their responsibility. What the commentators think about it is how much it feels like it seems that what happened afterwards in China really is not related to the social responsibility of intellectuals. Therefore, the most important thing for Chinese intellectuals today is still to strengthen their sense of social responsibility. However, I really doubt the social responsibility of Chinese intellectuals in the past hundred years
