中国民族在轴心期 (约西周至战国前后 )最重要的精神觉醒是“人兽之辨” ,即由于意识到人与动物的不同而把自身从它与自然的原始混沌中区分出来。江南轴心期所带来的最根本的精神觉醒则是唤醒了个体的审美意识 ,它使人自身从先秦以来的伦理异化中摆脱出来并努力要成为自由的存在。与轴心期一样 ,这同样是生命在巨大的悲剧与苦难经验中的产物。中国民族的审美精神是在江南文化背景中生产出来的 ,如同轴心期的诸子哲学一样 ,它构成了这个民族一切审美活动的“原本”与“深层结构”。以后大凡真正的或较为纯粹的中国审美经验 ,可以说与江南轴心期的精神结构都是密切相关的
The most important spiritual awakening of the Chinese nation in the axis period (around the Western Zhou Dynasty and around the Warring States Period) is “the distinction between beasts and animals,” which distinguishes itself from the primitive chaos of nature by recognizing the difference between human beings and animals. The most fundamental spiritual awakening brought by the Jiangnan axis revives the individual’s aesthetic consciousness, which frees itself from the ethical alienation from the pre-Qin era and strives to become a free existence. As with the axis, this is also the product of life in the great tragedy and suffering experience. The aesthetic spirit of the Chinese nation is produced in the cultural background of the Jiangnan people. Like the philosophy of philosophers in the axis period, it constitutes the “original” and the “deep structure” of all the aesthetic activities of this nation. Afterwards, real or pure Chinese aesthetic experience can be said to be closely related to the spiritual structure of the axis of the Jiangnan axis
