杂草是宁夏农业生产的一大灾害,据1972年连湖农场的调查:水稻田每平方米有稗草54株,则稻谷减产23.8%;有208株则减产80%。可以设想,在引黄灌区350万亩农田中,若以120万亩低产田每亩因草害减产50斤计,则每年将减产6000万斤;中产田约200万亩,每亩因草害减产25斤计,则每年将减产5000万斤,如此概算,灌区每年因草害减产粮食估计不会少于1.1亿斤。由于杂草是经常性的为害,它造成的损失,毫无疑问,是大于病虫害和冷害的。因此,研究经济有效的杂草防除的综合技术措施,已成为我区发展农业生产,提高劳动生产率和降低成本等一项刻不容缓的任务。
