在我国和上海经济区经济发展战略中,港口是一个薄弱环节,尤其是缺少深水泊位。因此,宁波深水港的开发具有深远的战略意义。在宁波深水海域可供开发的深水岸段中,最具优先开发条件的是北仑深水港区。而且已经开始建港并形成了2250万吨吞吐能力(其中10万吨级泊位一座,2.5万吨级矿石中转码头二座以及2.4~5万吨级原油码头二座)。这一港区的深水岸段长约13公里,根据“深水深用、大小泊位配套”(主体泊位与辅助泊位配套)的原则,可以安排各种泊位49个,其中3~5万吨级以上的有35个,万吨级及以下的有14个。予测2000年可达1.2亿吨以上的年吞吐能力。它的优先开发将大大改善和提高整个上海经济区的港口格局和能力,可以适应第三代集装箱定
