Allusions, which are the products of cultural accumulation and the essence of language, are widely used in English speech or writing. This paper conducts the study on the origin of English alusions to help the students know their hidden cultural background, thus appreciate and grasp them. An appropriate introduction of English alusions in English vocabulary teaching is important to broaden the students' horizon, enhance their humanities knowledge and improve their language competence.
