Integrins represent a family of membrane receptors that are structurally similar, participate in cell and extracellular matrix, and cell-cell adhesion. Their interaction with specific ligands (mostly containing RGD tripeptide recognition sequences) forms a ligand-integrin-cytoskeletal transmembrane information system that affects cell shape, regulates gene expression, controls cell proliferation and differentiation , determine the movement of cells, participate in immune recognition and blood coagulation. Of particular interest is the important role of integrins in the differentiation and malignant transformation of cells, and in the invasion and metastasis of malignant behavior of tumor cells.
