说起闸北,总让人联想到水闸、闸门之类的东西,一查方志,原来闸北一词,确实源于苏州河(原名吴淞江)上的两座水闸。清康熙十四年(1675年),在吴淞江上建了第一座水闸,即后来所称的老闸。雍正十三年(1735年),在老闸西面三里外的金家湾(今新福建路桥附近)又建一水闸,称为新闸。嘉庆
