Born in Zhejiang Qingtian photographer Xu Xiaoxiao 14-year-old immigrants to the Netherlands, graduated in 2009 from the Amsterdam Institute of photography. She was evacuated from childhood, the use of photography as a tool to explore and understand the background of self. By accident, Xu Xiaoxiao saw an article entitled “Sky Castle” in the newspaper “Dutch People.” The article describes a group of peculiar Chinese peasants who made the story of making a plane to heaven, along with photos of weird and imaginative aircraft. “I was immediately attracted by this story.” Xu Xiaoxiao said: “The rich imagination of these people and their romantic pursuit in a dull life make me want to understand why, in this age of materialistic supremacy, How do they overcome their technical and security challenges and how do they balance their real life with their dreams? ”Xu Xiaoxiao Decided to bring her medium format Hasselblad camera, to pursue these answers. She traversed more than half of China and photographed eight peasant aircraft makers living in three different provinces, four of them from Zhejiang. “Chinese dream ” is a dream of rejuvenation of the Chinese nation. It should be a dream for all. Everyone has the responsibility to make it happen. We should respect creative people who come from civil society and grassroots, even if they are doing something whimsical or empiricistic. These “Aeronautics” have never regretted embarking on the road to making their own aircraft, and they will not be deterred by danger and failure. By understanding the laws of nature, they are on the road to “flying,” and this is how they achieve “China’s dream.”
