This article introduces the measures and achievements made by the new Nippon Steel Company’s Yahata Iron & Steel Co., Ltd. in its slab heating furnace for hot-rolling mill. Three measures were taken: (1) to control the optimum furnace pressure and change the pressure of the original furnace from 17.6 Pa to 14.7 Pa, to increase the heat recovery rate by 3% and to reduce the energy consumption by 8,360 kJ / ton; (2) to improve the sealing device, So that the average furnace oxygen concentration from 5 to 8% down to 1 to 4%; (3) preheating furnace section set up and down the wall, blocking the preheating section of the high temperature zone burner to the tail of the gas spokes
