在棉花丰产大跃进的期间,各地都在千方百计考虑增产措施。蜜蜂授粉能够帮助棉花减少脱落并增加产量,在苏联已有大量试验结果证明。因此,如何应用这项有利条件到棉花增产上去值得多方面注意。棉花是可以异花授粉的自花授粉作物,蜜蜂授粉对棉花增产的效果据苏联文献报导:在塔什干试验,由于授粉充分使蕾铃脱落减少,因而成熟棉铃数增加13—15%。在阿捷尔拜疆试验经过蜜蜂授粉的花有90%结成铃,而未授粉的只有70.1%。同时,使平均铃重,每铃皮棉重,每铃种子数和衣分均有增加。同地另一试验,成熟棉铃数增加到12—22.5%。在乌兹别克试验,落铃率减低了18—19%,同时,每株棉铃增加3个,铃重、衣分和纤维长度都有增加,每公顷产量也增加6—8公担籽棉(合每亩80—106.6斤)。
