9月18日是苹果发布iOS7的日子。这一整天,苹果公司人员都在疲于奔命地应付其服务器上的更新下载量。郁闷的iPhone和iPad用户如潮水般涌到网上,报告他们为下载最新版移动iOS系统所碰到的错误信息。这一切都在意料之中,网络服务一直都不是苹果的强项。两年前,在用户蜂拥下载iOS5时,苹果公司就曾遭遇类似的麻烦,这样的问题甚至可以追溯到更久以前。十多年来,苹果一直在努力构建一套强大的云计算服务,可是事与愿违,它的服务总是受限于性能缓慢、系统中断和各种诡异的小毛病。
September 18 is Apple’s release of iOS7 days. All day, Apple employees are struggling to cope with the updated downloads on their servers. Frustrated iPhone and iPad users surged to the web to report the error they had encountered in downloading the latest version of the mobile iOS system. All this is expected, the Internet service has not been Apple’s strengths. Two years ago, when users flocked to download iOS5, Apple suffered similar troubles, and the problem went back even further. For more than a decade, Apple has struggled to build a powerful suite of cloud computing services, but its services are often limited by slow performance, system outages and a myriad of other weird tricks.
